Systems Strategy
The systems strategy defines what systems are needed by an organization, what each
system will do, how much the systems will cost, how systems will be integrated, and
suggests an overall schedule for resources and implementation.
The systems strategy must reflect overall company strategic initiatives, optimized
business processes, and both short- and longer-term needs for computerized systems. The
systems strategy should be dynamic, updated to reflect changing needs and priorities. The
systems strategy serves as a management blueprint for IT activities, identifying key
initiatives and defining approximate costs and timeframes.
A detailed implementation plan is needed for each system approved by management. Key
steps include:
| Needs assessment
|
| System selection
|
| Functional Requirements
|
| Detailed Design
|
| Implementation planning
|
| Training and documentation
|
| Validation
|
| Project management
